Course Overview:
The New Entry course is to provide practical experience on a variety of simulated areas to gain basic knowledge and understanding of key activities relating to the application of coatings.
To use information gained to competently prepare surface/materials/apply coatings to concrete & steel surfaces within a nuclear power plant.
Course Contents:
- Basic Overview of how a Nuclear Power Plant works
- Health and Safety essentials
- Properties and functions of Nuclear Coatings
- Operation of plant and equipment
- Mechanical and hand preparation of surfaces
- Preparation of materials and application of coatings using brush and roller
- Site finishing
- Quality control and corrective actions
Assessment:
Multiple choice test throughout the course and practical exercises.
Certification:
ICATS Certification is valid for 3 years. Card holders must then reapply for the ICATS card. Candidates will also be able to progress to the Blaster and/or Sprayer Specialist Course upon completion of the ICA course.
Course Duration:
5 (five) days (3 days theory and 2 days practical)
